Gibson ES-135 Vintage Sunburst 1991

The ES-135, a semi-hollow body model featuring a center block, adopts the same 16-inch body size and body shape as Gibson's full-hollow standard model "ES-175", while incorporating a slightly thinner body depth and Florentine cutaway. It first appeared in 1956 as a renamed version of the "ES-130" and production ceased after just two years. However, after many years had passed, a significantly redesigned reissue model was produced in 1991.

The model that has arrived this time is the ES-135 VS produced in the first year of that reissue, a 1991 model. The weight is 3.69kg, and the color is Vintage Sunburst.

The combination consists of a maple body, 3-piece maple neck, and rosewood fretboard. Like the ES-175, laminated materials are used. The traditional look combines an archtop body with F-holes and a sunburst color. It features an adjustable bridge mounted directly to the top and a trapeze tailpiece. Simple dot inlays and a 14° headstock angle are also characteristic features. (Standard is 17°)

A notable point is that the pickup combination appears to be original "P-100" units—stack-type humbucker pickups developed to reduce noise while maintaining the same external appearance as the "P-90". The pegs are Kluson-type.

The center block uses balsa wood called Chromite. The semi-hollow structure and thinner body provide resistance to feedback, making it a semi-acoustic that is easy to use even with overdrive. When actually played, the sound doesn't seem like a typical humbucker. It gives the impression of a quieter version of the "P90".

It maintains a rich resonance characteristic of the body while also possessing the solid feel typical of semi-acoustics, and the model prioritizes usability, giving the impression of getting the best of both worlds. Having this guitar makes you seem like a connoisseur. For being 35 years old, it's in quite good condition. Recommended.
