Gibson ES-335TDC 1968 #901438

The Gibson "ES-335" is the king of semi-hollow body guitars, combining the traditional woody resonance of a hollow body with the sustain of a solid body, continuing to captivate many players. Since its release in 1958, it has established itself as a standard model beloved by numerous guitarists.

This time we have in stock a valuable vintage, believed to be a 1968 "ES-335TDC". The serial number is "901438" and the weight is 3.5kg.

While the main wood composition and other aspects have not changed significantly, the "ES-335" manufactured during this period features "Made in USA" stamped on the back of the headstock without a volute, a narrow neck with a nut width of approximately 39.7mm, and small block inlays as its most distinctive characteristics.

It is equipped with pickups featuring the "T" stamp, commonly known as "T Bucker (T-Top)". The pole pieces are gold and there is no pickup cover. All pots, toggle switches, and wiring have been replaced. Additionally, the bridge and tailpiece have been changed from a Bigsby tailpiece to a stop tailpiece. There are also traces of holes being filled, indicating quite extensive modifications have been made. The plastic saddle of the bridge was cracked, so we have replaced it here. The pegs are Kluson-type and we have not made any replacements to them in particular.

Since the specifications had already been considerably changed from the original, we have replaced the nut, bridge, and saddle for players who want to play it in going forward, and we have also refretted it. This is a condition suitable for players seeking comfortable playability.

It is extremely difficult to determine how much is original and the exact manufacturing year for instruments from this period, but once you play this with its specifications and appearance, and experience the woody, airy sound with depth and dimension, you will immediately understand the difference from current models. The pickup also has a slightly higher output with prominent highs. While the narrow nut width offers ease of playing, the neck grip with its moderate thickness is also unique and interesting. The faded cherry color is excellent as well.

This is a completely different instrument from the reissues touted as being able to experience "traditional semi-hollow body sound." Please take this opportunity to experience the genuine quality firsthand.

【Truss Rod】Adequate clearance

【Frets】No wear (refretted, like-new condition)

【Neck】Straight

【Nut Width】Approximately 39.7mm

・If there are any buzzes, choking sounds, or other issues that significantly impair playability, we will always note them. In the absence of such notes, we judge that there are no problems with the play condition.

・Unless specifically marked as "Original" or "Replacement," we do not make definitive statements regarding specifications or condition.

・Regarding the truss rod, from a product protection standpoint, we only check approximately 45 degrees in both the tightening and loosening directions. (When marked as "adequate clearance," this indicates there is 45 degrees of clearance in both directions)
